    Intellectual Journey

The Honors interdisciplinary minor in “Consciousness, Creativity, and Meaning” explores what is perhaps the most vexing problem confronting modern science—the nature and origin of consciousness. In doing so it engages with enduring questions, such as, “What constitutes “reality”? Is the universe fundamentally made of dead matter obeying blind, mechanistic laws, or is it intelligent and working with purpose? How do we determine truth? Why is their suffering? Is there sentience after death? What gives life meaning?"

Please watch this short video that briefly describes the minor and tell us something about your life’s intellectual journey—for example, an influential book, idea, or experience—that makes the minor an appealing course of study.

    Residential Community

Honors students form a vibrant intellectual community that builds academic and personal relationships through shared living, collaborative learning, and social activities.

Please watch this short video describing the Honors Program’s residential feature and tell us how you would contribute to our community and what you would hope to gain from being part of it.
