Application and Audition Information

    For major, minor, or scholarship consideration, an entrance audition is required in addition to your Common Application to Puget Sound. Learn about audition requirements, dates, and procedures below.

    How to Apply

    1. Complete the Common Application.
    2. Review the Entrance Audition Requirements.
    3. Ask a music teacher to submit a recommendation.
      • This can be from an ensemble director or private teacher. After you provide their email address in the audition application they will receive a link to the recommendation form.
    4. Register for an audition.

    PLEASE NOTE: Students must submit their Music Audition Application and audition in the same round (Early Decision, Early Action or Regular Decision) as their Common Application.


    Audition Dates for Fall 2025 (Audition applications will open in mid-August)


    Early Decision & Early Action Applicants: Saturday, November 9

    Register for On-Campus Auditions by November 1.

    Regular Decision Applicants: Saturday, February 1

    Register for On-Campus Auditions by January 15.

    Recorded Auditions

    Early Decision & Early Action Applicants: Video submissions must be received by Saturday, November 9

    Regular Decision Applicants: Video submissions must be received by Saturday, February 1

    We strongly recommend live auditions, but will accept video-recorded auditions from students who live 3 or more hours from campus.


    Transfer Student Auditions

    • Transfer students applying for spring 2025 entrance should audition in November.
    • Transfer students applying for fall 2025 entrance should audition in February.
